The Script Development Programme

In pursuit of our aim to find and develop the best new scripts and to help build the next generation of writers for Black British drama, we give commissions and seed commissions to writers.

Writers who have been supported in this way include Michael Bhim, Oladipo Agboluaje, Trish Cooke, Geoffrey Aymer, Winsome Pinnock, Lorna French, Gabriel Gbadamosi, David Hermanstein, Ashmeed Sohoye, Angela Turvey and Tony Hendricks.

Talawa also assists writers to explore existing scripts by giving financial support for workshops, rehearsals in our studio and readings. Writers who have been supported in this way include Cornell John, Jennie Buckman, Kolton Lee and Mustapha Matura.
